Shirley Strickland
Needle Felt Artist
Hello
Nice of you to visit. If you have landed here by mistake you can nip back to my home page - I won't be offended.
My Story
Having spent many years teaching swing dance, the 'lockdown' meant I needed to change direction, so I started making face masks and fabric gifts with a dance colleague. As you can imagine, at that time face masks were very popular and we spent many a Sunday selling them at CAFM, a local market. When things started to calm down a bit we expanded our range of fabric items, but soon realised that we had a bit of a handicap selling lightweight fabric gifts at an outdoor market, so we set up an online shop - Nimble Thimble.

My love affair with painting and sculpting with wool started after a throw-away comment from my sister - 'have you ever tried needle felting?'. Several hours of looking at tutorials on the internet followed. I eventually decided to buy a beginners kit and 'have a go'. Little did I know this was to become an all consuming passion.

You can take a look at some of my work on my 'See my Work' page or come and have a chat in person at one of the craft or artists fairs I attend.
